LUCKNOW: An accused facing trial in last year's Mahanagar loot case reportedly sustained serious injuries in police custody. The role of policemen who were questioning Javed alias Pappu, an accused in the Rs 37 lakh loot case, has come under question.
A gang of gun-wielding assailants had allegedly robbed Sanjay Agarwal, a trader, and snatched his bag containing cash in November last year. Police were able to recover a petty amount after the case was cracked. With the court's permission, Mahanagar police took Pappu into custody and wanted to question him to recover more cash. Circle officer of Mahanagar area Vishal Pandey said that Pappu has been taken for treatment to a hospital. "He hurt himself to evade questioning and get out of police custody easily," Pandey claimed.
