In the memory of Tea Tycoon's Son a Mass Blood Donation Camp

More than 250 people including tea workers today donated blood to commemorate the death anniversary of Amit Agarwal, the son of tea magnate Ajit Agarwal.

Tea workers, staff, businessmen and industry stakeholders across north Bengal had gathered for the occasion at Amit Agarwal Smriti Bhawan, Shushrata Nagar near Medical College.

Amit, an only son and heir to an empire of more than Rs300 crore died on October 26, 2006. Thirty years old at that time, he was found unconscious at a hotel near Darjeeling More and died after being taken to a nursing home. Amit's father Ajit also donated blood this morning along with the others.

Tourism minister Gautam Deb appreciated blood donors' contribution towards making a better society. He lauded the initiative taken by the Amit Agarwal Foundation and Siliguri Terai Lions Blood Bank for arranging such a noble work. (EOIC)
